Father's Day is just around the corner and is always a perfect opportunity to recognise the contributions and sacrifices that fathers make to keep us happy and aid our growth. It is a day that is dedicated to put focus on them and remind them of just how much they mean to you by showing appreciation for their years of endless love, guidance, and support.

Instead of getting him the common gifts like the ties, socks, and slippers that they usually receive, we have sought out some truly unique gifts from all over the internet that we think he will love. This is your guide on finding the perfect gift for Father's Day.

Start with a card as always!

Fathers are quite easy to please. Sending a meaningful text is usually enough to put a massive smile on their faces. However, we're big on tangibility here and so getting him a card that he can put on top of his work desk or cupboard will allow him to pick it up and give it as many reads as he likes to put a smile on his face even through the toughest of days.

These are our pick of cards for this Father's Day:

  • This Laser-Cut Patterned Text Designed Card will sit very nicely on his desk/cupboard, adding a sense of depth to cards that are typically quite 2 dimensional.
  • Remember all them times he came running thinking you were being abducted because you screamed the house down when you spotted an 8-legged critter? Say thanks for being there all of those times with this cute appreciation card.
  • How about reminding your dad that his great parenting skills will pay off in the future with this amusing and contemporary card from Hallmark? The front of the card reads 'If you keep being so great I'm gonna have to put you in one of the good nursing homes!'.
  • For those that are nearing their introduction into the joys of fatherhood, check out this card From the Bump.

Be sure to stick to the social distancing measures as the greatest gift is the gift of good health and you can always get some Next Day Stamps to stick on the envelope and send the cards out to your father instead!

For the NEW dad

Ideas for a loved one that has been introduced into fatherhood and is adjusting to all the new responsibilities that fatherhood brings.

  • This New Dad Survival Kit is an amusing guide on various dad responsibilities such as 'types of nappy load' and how-to instructions with funny good vs bad instructions.
  • This Commando Dad Basic Training Guide by Neil Sinclair is another guide that presents detail on how to care for a child from birth to 3 years of age in commando style. It's very useful to open up when seeking information on how best to do certain things and advice based on prior paternal experiences.

For the WORKAHOLIC dad

For the busy dads that are constantly working to provide the best life for us, gift him something that he can use at work to act as subtle reminders that he's cared for.

  • If his work involves a keyboard and mouse, this Personalised Mousemat is quite a unique gift. Write him a message of appreciation with your favourite picture with him and your family. It will remind him of his family at home and provide warmth while working through those long hours.
  • These Wood Block Desk Calendars can also be personalised with a collage of photos for each month of the year. You can select the starting month so it doesn't matter if we're halfway through the year already!
  • The days of being your dad's personal masseuse are over! Get him this Shiatsu Massager. He'll really love you for it and can enjoy a deep tissue massage for all parts of the body after a long stressful day at work!

For the HANDYMAN dad

The do it yourself dads are always there for the odd repairs and maintenance work that often go unnoticed. You can always count on them to fix anything around the house.

  • This Multi-Tool Pen is a very useful gift for the handymen. It is an all in one pen with a ball-point pen, spirit level, ruler, slot and cross head screwdriver and stylus pen for smartphones and tablets. It also comes with 4 extra pen refills.

Strict dads only ever want the best for us. Give them something back for always keeping us in check.

  • Remember when your dad would confiscate your phone because you spent too much time on it? It's time to get him back! Lock his (and your own) phone up into this Mobile Phone Lock Up to spend some quality time with your dad this Father's Day!

Either humour moves on very quickly, or dad's jokes get worse over time but dads cannot help but crack one liners here and there that he thinks are hilarious.

  • This Very Embarrassing Book of Dad Jokes contains a collection of classic dad jokes from dads around the world that he can add to his bank of dad jokes. It also contains dad stats that are quite funny too!

For the TRYING TO BE HEALTHY BUT FAILING MISERABLY dad

For the dads that say they're going to go on a diet every other week but so easily cave in, here are some gifts to try and motivate him to try and get him to commit and eventually achieve his goal of being a fit dad.

  • Get him the Breville Blend Active Personal Blender & Smoothie Maker which comes with a heap of recipes that he can follow to make the most nutritious of smoothies and also enjoy milkshakes on his cheat days! He can make smoothies for breakfast that will hopefully make him part ways with his beloved morning fry-ups!
